Hi Jen and Alison, I would love to know about resources as a new freelancer. This may not be in your scope with Job Hopper, which I'd understand, but I have been out of full-time work and now I'm making a go at self-employment. With your expertise, I'd love to know about communities or sites that would be good support for people like me. Thanks ladies!
I'd start with your existing social networks. I belong to a lot of freelancers' groups on Facebook. My favorites are Binders Full of Writing Jobs and Binders Full of Entry-Level Content Writers and Writing Jobs.
I also like FlexJobs for finding contract work. There's a fee, but it was worth it for me: I found a contract gig in a few weeks. #notanad. LinkedIn is also good for that and free!
I'd also recommend signing up for Kat Boogaard's email at her site: https://katboogaard.com/. Newsletters have been less regular lately but her advice is always spot on.
Also, tell everyone you know that you're looking for freelance work and what you can do (and what you've done for others). You never know where leads will come from.
Alison may have some thoughts, too, but those are my first ideas. LMK if you have other questions! -Jen
